The Daigneault News
weeks # 18 & 19 January 17, 2020
It’s progress report time again! Your child will be bringing their trimester 2 mid trimester progress report home today. Please review the report with your child. You do NOT need to sign and return the progress report. Please keep in mind this is a check in on your child’s progress towards the identified goals.
Students worked on their unit 4 math assessment this week on area, perimeter, measurement to the nearest 1/4 and 1/2 inch, multiplication facts: x1, x2, x5, x10 and line plots. As a follow up enrichment to area and perimeter students designed their own animal cages on large poster chart paper. They had to create an array, find the area, perimeter and write a number model. They will be on display in the hallway.
Students started our new science unit: Weather and Climate this week. Ask your child about the water cycle. What are some of the vocabulary terms and what do they mean? Check out the handout sent home on Tuesday of this week! Thursday, January, 23, 2020 we will have a science lab experiment. We will be creating our own water cycles in a water bottle! We are in need of 24 new unopened 16oz. water bottles, cotton balls, and blue food coloring for our experiment. We have 24 students.
Homework is not optional! It is sent home every Monday and due on Friday. I am sending next week’s homework home on Friday, January 17, 2020 so students have it in advance. It is due Friday, January 24, 2020.
Please ask your child to review the behavior matrix’s expectations at home too! We have daily review of voice level expectations in various areas/settings of the school and how to look and sound in those areas/settings as well.
Thank you to the mystery donor! Someone donated a 3rd box of wipes! Thank you! We are in need of tissues only! Thank you for the wonderful support and donations of time and supplies to our class!
Students need their winter gear for recess daily and for gym class. Students are starting cross country skiing in gym. Please check the paper Mrs. Printup sent home with your child before Christmas break for more information.
If you have extra snow pants, boots, mittens, and sneakers that your child can keep at school that would be helpful. Winter gear may be stored in cubbies are ready for the next day. Students should have a change of shoes so they don’t wear their boots all day too!
Please check out my website to view newsletters, important information, schedules, and upcoming events. Just log on to the site listed at the bottom of this letter.
