week # 32
May 5, 2017
Students completed their Student Goal #2 this week on text features. Second graders had been learning about various text features and how to use them.
As part of our science unit on plants students focused on what a plant needs to grow to the different parts of a plant. Learners also discussed how plant seeds are dispersed to help grow new plants. Come check out our plant paintings with labels!
Happy Birthday to our friend Brieanna! We celebrated her birthday with yummy cupcakes from her mom (THANKS!)
This week students also discussed a new homework solution. All reading logs are due on MONDAY. The group shared their thoughts on a FUN FRIDAY reward for those who remember to return their work on time.
We are in need of the following materials for a Mother’s Day project. If you can help donate we would GREATLY appreciate the help!
-> paper lunch bags (white or brown) -> nylons/knee highs
-> potting soil ->plastic cups
->wiggle eyes (size of a dime) ->elastic bands (mini)
->ribbon (various colors/designs) -> buttons (size of a dime)
->scraps of material -> tissues & baby wipes
-> letter stamps/letter stencils
Students have gym class on Tuesdays. Students need to wear appropriate dress and sneakers. Students may keep a pair of sneakers at school.
Thank you to friends who have donated items or time to our class. We greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness!
Again, I look forward to working with you and your child. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
