The Daigneault News
Week #3
Hello from second grade!
This week, students have been focusing on building stamina during Daily 5. We are up to 19 minutes of uninterrupted Read to Self time! Our class has been modeling and practicing how to look and sound during Read to Self, Read to Someone and Work on Writing during Daily 5. We also started our first science unit-“What is a scientist?/Matter” this week too. Ask your child what they think a scientist is and what they do. We ended the week with a special grade 2 team building activity and freeze pops!
Our Mystery Reader this week was Alyssa P.! Be on the look out for next week’s reader! The Mystery Reader will select a special book he/she would like to read to the class on Thursday the following week. Please encourage your child, when chosen, to practice their book so they will be ready to read it to the class. I will help children choose developmentally appropriate reading books. On the unveiling day I will give clues to the class to see if they know who the Mystery reader is! Our reading specialists have many learning to read books for second graders. Just let me know if your child needs assistance.
The Star Student of the Week was Alyssa A. ! We learned some interesting facts about her. Students completed a Star Student Times sheet to be compiled into a book at the end of the year! Danielle is the next share student. I’m very excited to learn about everyone. We will each complete a Star Student page at the end of the week to be compiled into a book to bring home at the end of the year.
Wanted! I’m looking for donations of the following items: seasonal stickers, baby wipes, coins such as quarters, dimes, pennies and nickels for our class I greatly appreciate any donation you can give! Thank you very much to the moms and dads that have donated to our class!
