week #2 9
April 7, 2017
Students started their informational writing unit this week. This week students focused on elements of informational writing, choosing and planning a topic, and headings. We are also continuing with our mini edit skills unit as well. Our bubblegum “Edit Skills” machine is beginning to fill up! Students are excited to fill it to the top for our special surprise!
In math students wrapped up unit 7 on measurement. Please see our newsletter to see what we will be working on next!
Keep reading! Reading log are homework and need to be completed weekly!
On Tuesday, a fluency passage along with a parent letter went home. Students should practice the passage as explained in the parent letter. A student or students may be selected to read their passage aloud! Happy fluent reading!
We are looking for (18) new plastic milk crates (crates that you can put file folders in) to use as chairs and storage.
Students have gym class on Tuesdays. Students need to wear appropriate dress and sneakers. Students may keep a pair of sneakers at school.
Please encourage your child to bring warm clothing for recess! Don’t forget to label all clothing! Students should bring their winter gear EVERY day.
Our class is in need of the following items: magazines, tissues, baby wipes, stickers, notebooks, and old board games to transform into Daily 5 games (for example: Scrabble). We greatly appreciate any donation you can give to our class.
Thank you to friends who have donated items or time to our class. We greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness!
Again, I look forward to working with you and your child. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
