Character Studies Book in a Box Project
As part of your March homework you will create a character study in a box project.
The first thing you will need is a good fit book at your ability level based on a character. Maybe you would like to read a Magic Tree House book and track one of the main characters, Jack. On a different note, maybe you want to read an Arthur book and track the main character Arthur. Whichever book you choose make sure it’s a “GOOD FIT” book.
After reading the entire book complete the following questions in COMPLETE sentences. Remember to support your answers with evidence from your book when needed. Don’t forget to proof read your work!
The last part of your Character Studies Book in a Box project is to get a box. A shoe box is ideal or you could use a cereal box too. If you need a larger box go ahead! Decorate the outside of your box to look like a treasure box. Add details about your character. Get wild and crazy!
Within the box you will need to add objects (from around your house or create them) that tell about your character. For example if I read Because of Winn Dixie and I decided to track Opal I could add objects that would tell about Opal. I might add a book with a plain cover because Opal learns you can’t judge a book by its cover. I might also add a toy trophy that reads, “Best Friend Award” because one of Opal’s goals was to make new friends. Be creative with your box of treasured objects! You will need to collect or create at least 5 objects that tell about your character. Finally, you will need to add a blue ribbon award to the front of your box. On your blue ribbon award you will need to add why your main character you studied earned a blue ribbon award. Did your character learn a lesson in the story? Write the life lesson on your blue ribbon award.
Your Character Studies in a Box Project is DUE March 19, 2020.
