The Daigneault News
week #21 January 31, 2020
Thank you to everyone who donated water bottles and food coloring for our science project The water cycle bottles came out great! Leave them on a warm windowsill and see what happens!
Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29 grade 3 students completed the NEWEA tests in math and reading. I will be sending goal sheets home this Friday.
Homework is not optional! It is sent home every Monday
and is due every Friday. Next week your child will have only one assignment, “Work on unfinished cursive handwriting pages". Please see the homework cover sheet for detailed information.
Students celebrated the conclusion of unit 3 in the Grade 3 Units of Study this week too! As part of our celebration the grade 3 team watched the movie, Because of Winn Dixie. As a follow up students participated in a whole group discussion and them broke into teams and created maps with connections of what was the same/different from the book to the movie and how it connected to our new read aloud book main character. Students also focused on the story mountain with the main character’s problem/s and solution/s, secondary characters and their roles and how they helped the main character along their journey. Our next Unit of Studies grade 3 unit will be mystery books. If you have any fiction reading books like: Nancy Drew, Cam Jansen, Scooby Doo that our class could have we would love to add them to our library.
Please ask your child to review the behavior matrix’s expectations at home too! We have daily review of voice level expectations in various areas/settings of the school and how to look and sound in those areas/settings as well.
Students need their winter gear for recess daily and for gym class. Students are starting cross country skiing in gym. Please check the paper Mrs. Printup sent home with your child before Christmas break for more information.
If you have extra snow pants, boots, mittens, and sneakers that your child can keep at school that would be helpful. Winter gear may be stored in cubbies and ready for the next day. Students should have a change of shoes so they don’t wear their boots all day too!
Students have voted and would like to send Valentine’s Day cards to their classmates. Please help your child create a box or bag to hold their cards. They may bring their box/bag to school at any time. Please have the student’s name large and bold on the front of the box/bag so others can easily see it! I am including a list of names of students in our class. If you would also like to send in a small snack or paper products (plates, napkins, cups, plastic Ziplock baggies) or drinks you may. We have 24 kiddos. Students will open their cards and have a snack in the morning due to Heart Healthy Day in the afternoon. More information about Heart Healthy Day will be sent home soon!
Students in our class: Stefan, Daniel, Lucy, Kylie, Graesyn, Tristan, Ranger, Liam, London, Jason, Thomas, Carson, Aiden, Tucker, Lily ,Sophia, Tanner, Joshua, Brody, Harmony, Logan, Rylie, Kaden, & Anna
