The Daigneault News
week #20 January 24, 2020
Our class is in need of 13 water bottles to do a science lab experiment. We will be creating our own water cycles in a water bottle! We are in need of 13 new unopened 16oz. water bottles, cotton balls, and blue food coloring for our experiment. Thank you to Liam for donating 10 bottles! We greatly appreciate the donation!
Next Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29 grade 3 students will be taking the NEWEA test from 9:00-10:25 a.m. on both days. Please check out the school newsletter for ways to help your child prepare to do their best on the test!
Homework is not optional! It is sent home every Monday and due on Friday. Next week your child will have only one assignment titled, “The Water Cycle Comic Strip”. Please see the homework cover sheet with the attached directions and sample comic strip for detailed information.
Students are creating mini informational books based on a topic they are experts on. If your child has an informational book or source on their topic we would love to borrow it for Writer’s Workshop.
During Reader’s Workshop grade 3 students are focusing on the Units of Study Character Studies. This week students added to their story mountains with their character’s problem/s and solution/s and how their character responded to the problem/s and how it helped them along their journey. Our next Unit of Studies grade 3 unit will be mystery books. If you have any fiction reading books like: Nancy Drew, Cam Jansen, Scooby Doo that our class could have we would love to add them to our library.
Please ask your child to review the behavior matrix’s expectations at home too! We have daily review of voice level expectations in various areas/settings of the school and how to look and sound in those areas/settings as well.
Students need their winter gear for recess daily and for gym class. Students are starting cross country skiing in gym. Please check the paper Mrs. Printup sent home with your child before Christmas break for more information.
If you have extra snow pants, boots, mittens, and sneakers that your child can keep at school that would be helpful. Winter gear may be stored in cubbies and ready for the next day. Students should have a change of shoes so they don’t wear their boots all day too!
Students have voted and would like to send Valentine’s Day cards to their classmates. Please help your child create a box or bag to hold their cards. They may bring their box/bag to school at any time. Please have the student’s name large and bold on the front of the box/bag so others can easily see it! I am including a list of names of students in our class. If you would also like to send in a small snack or paper products (plates, napkins, cups, plastic Ziplock baggies) or drinks you may. We have 24 kiddos. Students will open their cards and have a snack around 2:15 after Reader’s Workshop.
Students in our class: Daniel, Lucy, Kylie, Graesyn, Tristan, Ranger, Liam, London, Jason, Thomas, Ellie, Carson, Aiden, Tucker, Lily ,Sophia, Tanner,Joshua, Brody, Harmony, Logan, Rylie, Kaden, & Anna
