The Daigneault News
week #4
September 22, 2017
Things are starting to come together as students practice their daily routines and schedules. This week students modeled adding most of the Daily 5 components together. We are still focusing on how to look and sound while the teacher is working with students. During Writer’s Workshop this week we continued our focus on launching our Writer’s Workshop by discussing/modeling setting up folders and organizing our work, labeling pictures and setting up a quiet environment. Students helped to create a chart to show how we should look and sound during Writer’s Workshop. Next week we will begin our inquiry unit in science, What is a Scientist?. Students will be able to share who is a scientist and what they do. They will also do some investigating! We will end the week conducting some hands-on activities and setting up our Scientist briefcases!
Natalea was the star of the week this week. Our class learned a lot of new things about her! Come and check out our Star Student star pocket chart in the hallway! It is filled with the many things Natalea shared this week. Sydney will be our Star Student of th Week the week of September 25.
Homework is due on Monday, September 25! Homework packet #2 will be sent home on Monday, September 25 and due the following Monday.
Thank you for returning volunteer forms. I am currently looking at making Thursday afternoons our Flex Day. I am hoping to utilize volunteers to work with small groups. I am also looking at scheduling during Writer’s Workshop as well. I plan to contact those who sent in volunteer forms by the beginning of October.
Please check your child’s Weekly Tote (white folder with the blue paw print) for weekly papers. Please remove the papers and return the tote to school. This week your child tote should have the following news from the classroom: week #4 newsletter.
We have a snack break every morning upon arrival. Please make sure your child has a healthy snack and drink.
Treasure Box donations needed! If you have any items such as:
McDonald Happy Meal toys, bookmarks, pencils, small toys, pens, books, small trinkets (Dollar Tree items), notebooks, crayons, Playdough, necklaces, toy rings, erasers, Matchbox cars, or fun note pads we would love to have them for our Traesure Box! Students will have Treasure Box Day next Friday. Students have been earning Paw Coins for great classroom behavior and they are super excited to cash them in for treasure!
Cooler weather is approaching and your child will need to dress appropriately. Please send layers of clothing with your child so they can adjust, as the days get cooler or warmer.
Monday is Library Day! Don’t forget to bring your books! Students have gym class on Tuesday. Please send sneakers and appropriate dress.
Toys and electronics are not permitted in my class unless they remain in the students’ school bag. It is the responsibility of the student if a toy/electronic is lost or damaged.
Again, I look forward to working with you and your child. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
