The Daigneault News
Weeks #28 & 29 March 30, 2018
Yeah! We have had two full weeks of school! It’s been nice having a consistant routine with Mother Nature!
These past two weeks students have been changing gears in writing from Opinion writing to a mini unit on Edit Skills before we jump into our last unit of the year on Informational writing. Students also completed unit 6 in math. During Theme Time the second graders have been learning about our National Symbols.
Congratulations to our February Student of the Month winner- Natalea! Our April winners are Levi and Deleayni! They will be awarded on April 12- the next Panther Pride Assembly. Way to go!
Save the date! April 12, 2018 at 9:30a.m. grade 2 students will be performing at the April Panther Pride assembly! We will present a short presentation on our next social studies unit- “Our Nation’s Symbols”!
Our class continues to model solving small and big problems as a morning meeting activity. Ask your child the difference between a small and big problem and role model how we can solve them!
Please check your child’s Weekly Tote (white folder with the blue paw print) for weekly papers. Please remove the papers and return the tote to school. This week your child tote should have the following news from the classroom: weeks #28 & 29 newsletter
We have a snack break every morning upon arrival. Please make sure your child has a healthy snack and drink.
Treasure Box donations needed! If you have any items such as:
McDonald Happy Meal toys, bookmarks, pencils, small toys, pens, books, small trinkets (Dollar Tree items), notebooks, crayons, Playdough, necklaces, toy rings, erasers, Matchbox cars, or fun note pads we would love to have them for our Traesure Box! Students will have Treasure Box Day next Friday. Students have been earning Paw Coins for great classroom behavior and they are super excited to cash them in for treasure!
Cooler weather is here and your child will need to dress appropriately. Please send layers of clothing with your child so they can adjust, as the days get cooler or warmer. Please bring all winter gear every day! In Maine you never know what the weather will be like from from one momment to the next!
Monday is Library Day! Don’t forget to bring your books! Students have gym class on Tuesday. Please send sneakers and appropriate dress.
Toys and electronics are not permitted in my class unless they remain in the students’ school bag. It is the responsibility of the student if a toy/electronic is lost or damaged.
Again, I look forward to working with you and your child. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
