Happy Spring!
Spring is here at last! Please keep in mind that students go outside daily for recess and if there is SNOW, winter gear is needed. If children do not have their gear they need to stand on the tar. Recess is more enjoyable if they can run and play!
Our class started our final writing unit of the year- Informational Writing. Ask your child about organizing information, choosing a topic, using text features, adding details that support the topic and applying edit skills.
Please come and join us for our Panther Pride Assembly presentation next Thursday, April 4 at 9:30! Our class is singing, “The Boogie Woogie Measurement” song!
Weather in Your School from channel 8 came to our class this Friday, March 28. Please be sure to turn in to channel 8 at 4:00p.m. for a glimpse of what we were learning about!
WANTED! We have chair arm pillows for students to use on the floor. We are in need of 3 more for everyone to have one to use. If you can help us that would be wonderful! We also need baby wipes too!
Thank you to all those who have sent in gifts and supplies! We greatly appreciate all you do!
Homework logs #25 will go home on Monday! Homework is due on Monday! If your child misplaces their log just record minutes read on a piece of paper.
Winter is here! All students go outside every day UNLESS the temperature is below 16 degrees or it is raining. PLEASE remind you child to bring their gear even if it looks like foul weather. You never know what the weather will be like in Maine! It can be raining one minute and sunny the next! Students MUST have boots and snowpants to play in the snow. This is a P.C.S. rule. Students should also have a winter jacket, hat, scarf and mittens. Some recess days are very chilly but still warm enough for recess! We want all children to be warm and safe during the chilly winter months. If your child has extra snowpants, boots or sneakers to keep at school they may. They may store their gear in their cubbies. SNEAKERS are a must for gym class on Wednesdays! Also, students should have a pair of sneakers/shoes to wear in the classroom so their feet don’t overheat.
Homework packets are sent home on the first day of the school week and are due back the following first day of the week. If there is a holiday, workshop day or snow day homework is scheduled that week. Homework during vacations only will be optional!
Please check your child’s Weekly Tote (white folder with the blue paw print) for weekly papers. Please remove the papers and return the tote to school. This week your child tote should have the following news from the classroom: weeks #27-29 newsletter
We have a snack break every morning upon arrival. Please make sure your child has a healthy snack and drink.
Cooler weather is approaching and your child will need to dress appropriately. Please send layers of clothing with your child so they can adjust, as the days get cooler or warmer.
Students have gym class on Wednesday. Please send sneakers and appropriate dress.
Toys and electronics are not permitted in my class unless they remain in the students’ school bag. It is the responsibility of the student if a toy/electronic is lost or damaged.
Each week a different student will bring home a plastic portfolio box labeled “Mrs. Daig’s Star Student”. It will be sent home on Fridays and returned on Mondays. Your child may fill the portfolio box with items that pertain to him/her. Students are asked to bring items/pictures of items to school that are meaningful like a postcard of their summer trip to Hawaii, a piece of rose quartz from a quarry they once visited, or a favorite doll that someone crocheted. Items will be shared throughout the week and returned home on Friday.
Again, I look forward to working with you and your child. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
