The Daigneault News
Week #4
Happy fall!
We have had another busy week of productive learning! Second graders have been preparing for Writer’s Workshop and learning what tools we use to how we look and sound during writing to what do we do when finished with a piece.
In math we have been focusing on odd and even numbers, skip counting patterns, building fact fluency by finding combinations of 10 and counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s!
In science we started lessons 1 & 2 “What is a scientist?” and “What tools does a scientist use?”
Our Mystery Reader this week was absent so we will try again next week! Be on the look out for next week’s reader! The Mystery Reader will select a special book he/she would like to read to the class on Thursday the following week. Please encourage your child, when chosen, to practice their book so they will be ready to read it to the class. I will help children choose developmentally appropriate reading books. On the unveiling day I will give clues to the class to see if they know who the Mystery reader is! Our reading specialists have many learning to read books for second graders. Just let me know if your child needs assistance.
The Star Student of the Week was Danielle ! We learned some interesting facts about her. Students completed a Star Student Times sheet to be compiled into a book at the end of the year! Sammy is the next share student. I’m very excited to learn about everyone. We will each complete a Star Student page at the end of the week to be compiled into a book to bring home at the end of the year.
Wanted! I’m looking for donations of the following items: seasonal stickers, baby wipes, coins such as quarters, dimes, pennies and nickels for our class I greatly appreciate any donation you can give! Thank you very much to the moms and dads that have donated to our class!
