week #18
January 13, 2017
Hello from Mrs. Daig’s 2nd grade!
Congratulations to our two Student of the Month 2nd graders- Isabella and Gavin! Awesome job!
This week students did a lot of testing! Second graders completed their unit 4 math test on measurement , mid year math assessment and Reading running records! It was a lot to do in one week but the outcome was well worth it.
Ask your second grasder about the new Daily 5 spelling activities they learned this week- “Scramble It” and “Spelling Battleship”. These are fun activities to help your child practice their word work!
Over the next few weeks students will be learning about weather and how it affects them. On Tuesday, Jaunuary 24, 2017 Channel 8 will be visiting our school to talk to the second graders about weather.
Don’t forget: Homework packets #5 went home last Tuesday and are due back next Tuesday! I sent them home early. Packet #6 will be sent home on Tuesday, January 24. Also, Students help to create our “Fun Friday Expectations” chart. If they have outstanding homework, behavior issues, or unfinished classwork they will not be eligible to participate in the “Fun Friday” activity. I encourage all students to plan a homework time and place to complete their weekly homework. All assignments should be completed in pencil. Remember to do your personal best!
Progress reports and Heart Healthy forms will be sent home NEXT Friday in your child’s Weekly Folder. Please return the “Please sign here” portion of the progress report and the completed Heart Healthy form by February 1, 2017.
Students have gym class on Tuesdays. Students need to wear appropriate dress and sneakers. Students may keep a pair of sneakers at school.
Please encourage your child to bring warm clothing for recess! Don’t forget to label all clothing! Students should bring their winter gear EVERY day.
Our class is in need of the following items: magazines, tissues, baby wipes, stickers, notebooks, and old board games to transform into Daily 5 games (for example: Scrabble). We greatly appreciate any donation you can give to our class.
Thank you to friends who have donated items or time to our class. We greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness!
Again, I look forward to working with you and your child. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
